Ahead of Saturday’s return to Championship action and our clash at the Riverside Stadium with Middlesbrough as the October international break came to a close, West Bromwich Albion confirmed that Welsh international striker Hal Robson-Kanu had now extended his existing deal by a further 12 months.

The 30-year-old joined the club as a free agent back in 2016 following his lengthy spell with Reading, and to date, he has made 34 starts for us, along with 65 substitute showings – returning nine goals. Following the arrival of new manager Slaven Bilic, HRK has featured five times in the 2019/20 campaign, and he’s now contracted up at The Hawthorns until the summer of 2021.
Speaking to wba.co.uk as his new deal was announced, he said.
“It’s fantastic for me and it remains a real pleasure to represent this club. Slaven is building a strong squad here which can compete and I’m looking forward to contributing over the course of the season. We’re going to need the whole squad for the battle ahead and need strength in every position, whether that is being in the team as a first choice or coming into games to make an impact. There’s a real focus around the place now which Slaven has helped create but we need to maintain what we’re doing.”
Given Robson-Kanu’s goal return for us, it’s not unfair to say he does split the fanbase as plenty feel he doesn’t offer enough of a threat, yet others more appreciate the effort he does put in for us – but it’s football, that happens.
He got the winner at the weekend though!
What ever he pays his agent ay nowhere near enough!

WHY? offers nothing, a goal every 5-6-7 games and the odd game he can actually hold onto a ball let alone be fast enough to get it doesn't have the right for a new contract, never gave I wanted a player to retire so much, in the group of worst strikers we've ever had

Good move. We need every player in that squad focussed on the job at hand. We have a great chance this season and we cant have any players having to do anything but concentrate on their football.

If Bilic is happy with what he brings, ultimately, that’s all that matters.
